The Relocation Assistance program is designed
to assist DoD personnel relocating to a new
assignment. Relocation services provided at
Aviano include:
right start
- The INTRO program is mandatory for all active-duty
personnel new to Aviano Air Base. DoD Civilians
and spouses are highly encouraged to attend.
"Right Start" is Aviano's one stop
in-processing center. In-processing is held
the first duty day of the week starting at
8:00 am and is three days long (typically
Monday,
Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Fridays we have
an optional Benvenuti
local area tour. Spouses are welcome and highly
encouraged to attend both Right Start and
Benvenuti.
Right Start is managed by the Relocation Assistance
Program and held at the Airman and Family
Readiness
Center. First duty station Airmen will attend
two weeks of training at the First Term Airmen's
Center (FTAC) immediately following Right Start.
We highly encourage newcomers to review the
driver’s license testing material and
take the test before arriving, go online to
view materials.
The following documents are required for Right
Start:
Valid State Drivers License for self and spouse
"No Fee" Passport with VISA stamp
for DoD Civilians, all spouses and family members
Medical/Shot records for self and family members
9 Copies of Orders and Amendments*
2 Copies of Vehicle Shipping Document*
2 Copies of all receipts*
Any tickets used in route to Aviano
One copy of travel advances from last duty station
Copy of recruiter's assistance program letter
(if applicable)

Start Schedule
Smooth Move
- An orientation briefing to assist in preparation
for an upcoming move. Many helpful tips
and
reminders to assist in your next move. Classes
are offered the 1st and 3rd Friday of every
month, from 0830-1045. You
also have the option of turning in your chem
gear prior to class fro 0730-0820. Call

Loan Closet
- Household items are available for temporary
use by personnel arriving to or departing from
Aviano AB. Please stop by if you need to borrow
any small household items while you are waiting
for your shipment to arrive.
Sponsorship
- Aviano-specific sponsor training is conducted
bi-monthly to ensure sponsors have the tools
required
to assist
their Aviano inbounds. Allow us to provide
the tools and information to make you the
best sponsor
you can be. This training is held twice
every month (first and third Wednesday
from 2:30
- 4:00 PM). USAFE now requires
every sponsor to complete E-Sponsorship training
prior to attending local training. Instructions

Spouse
START
- Assisting spouses with adapting to Aviano
AB, Italy. Information and
resources are provided that help to smooth
the transition. This half day class discusses
childcare options, obtaining employment, education
and networking opportunities
and much more! You will meet spouses who have
been here a while and can help answer some
of those questions you didn't even know you
had. This class is offered every other
month on the first Wednesday from 8:00 - 1300.

Child Care For PCS
(sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society)
- Air Force members relocating to or from Aviano
AB are authorized up to 20 hours of free child
care within the first 60 days of arrival or
within 30 days of departure. If you are inbound
be sure to ask your sponsor to make your reservations
at the CDC at least 30 days in advance. Contact
the A&FRC staff upon arrival for a certificate
or call 632-5407 for additional information.
