\\ PROGRAMS \\ TRANSITION ASSISTANCE

Intro
- The Transition Assistance Program (TAP) is a partnership among Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Labor (DoL) and Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA). This program is mandated by public law to provide separating/retiring members and their families with information, resources and services to ensure a successful transition to the civilian sector.

Pre-Separation Counseling
- The law requires members to attend this session at least 90 days before separation/retirement. The pre-separation Counseling provides an overview of TAP resources and services available to ease the transition. See the Preseparation Timeline to get an idea what needs to be accomplished.

Transition Assistance PROGRAM (tap) workshop
- The DoL 3-day workshop is designed to prepare members to conduct a successful job search. The workshop covers all aspects of the job search: skills assessment, career exploration/preferences, resume writing and interviewing techniques. A VA representative will also provide an overview of benefits/entitlements during the workshop.
For more specifics see the TAP Trifold to view the TAP 3 Day Agenda and 2010 TAP Workshop Schedule.

Executive TAP (for O6 and above or E8 and above) is also provided through the Ramstein AB Airman & Family Readiness Center. For dates and specifics call DSN 480-5100 or commercial (49) 6371-47-5100.
